History

DPC Founder/Director Mal Parker began volunteer coaching at the South Dekalb YMCA in 2016. Starting with one team in 2016, by 2019 he was coaching a total of four teams due to the lack of volunteer coaches. In addition to playing with South Dekalb YMCA, teams also participated in the Competitive Christian Basketball League (CCBL) and were planning on participating in additional youth tournaments until COVID-19 shutdown.

In a soft reopening of the South Dekalb YMCA, Coach Parker began conducting Skills and Drills session in late 2020. The sessions ran until Spring 2021 and continued with Skills and Drills accompanied by a 3v3 league which when ended, effectively ended the official youth sports programs at the South Dekalb YMCA. With a strong committed group of parents, the decision was made to launch Dream Prepare Compete as a youth sports organization in the late Spring of 2021. DPC has recently completed its second season as a member of the Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) competing in various tournaments and leagues throughout Georgia.

As a Level 3 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Boys Basketball Member, we fall under AAU’s non-profit 501(c)(3) status. We are a non-profit entity and are eligible to accept tax exempt donations.
